Sorry for not posts in forever...the two of them take up all of my time. You can thank Aunt Paula for these b/c she reminded me the blog has been suffering without photos since Halloween!!!
The kids are great. Taylor is walking...running...yelling...and tormenting her big brother and her parents on a regular basis! Jake is getting so grown up so quickly and is already enrolled in preschool for September! Where does the time go?? I will do better at updating more regularly!!!

Taylor loves jumping and looks like she'll bounce right out especially when she gets excited!

Jake on the potty....hmm....I wonder who he is emulating??? I know it isn't mommy!
Jake is almost fully potty trained. He stays consistently dry even when out of the house for a few hours but only goes #2 on the potty when he feels like it...he is still scared to and so are mommy and daddy after our summer experience with him!

Jake's a cutie who loves his sister. He was even seen trying to feed her...Mommy was in the kitchen and heard him saying to her "want some baby?" while holding her spoon of food to her mouth. Too cute!

Taylor is just infatuated with her brother. She watches everything he does, laughs at him constantly, and gets very frustrated that she can't move well enough yet to chase after him.

A visit with Grandma and Grandpa...Even Tiki got in on the picture!

Jake just loves the playground near our house. He and Taylor got some time in on the swings together enjoying the nice weather before it gets too cold!

I think Taylor thought Jake was a big stuffed animal for her to play with! Jake was just the sweetest little green monster. He loved the big pillow belly to bop around with.

And she really embraced her cuteness....what a ham!

Jake is such a sweet older brother! He is always giving "T" kisses and loving her! It is enough to melt Mommy's heart!!!
He will do things like throw his ball or catch it and look over to where Taylor is and say "Look T" and I even caught him talking to her when we went for a walk in the stroller...he was babbling about the beach and boats and rocks in the sand as we walked along the boardwalk and I kept hearing him say....T blah blah blah and pointing to things as he leaned over to her side of the stroller. It was too cute. Unfortunately Taylor was sleeping so she missed out on the lessons of her older brother!

Hitting Age 2 he has become quite the little man! Here he is sporting his shades before going out to play with his water table!

Jake loves when he gets to "hold" Taylor and she seems to enjoy sitting with her brother as well!
This duo is quite a handful both wanting Mommy's attention ALL the time but when you are this cute how can Mommy say no?!

Taylor may have slept through the park but while her big brother napped she played on her mat kicking and swatting at the toys and smiling for Mommy!
She is getting so big and really smiles a lot now! She loves kicking her legs and trying to reach for toys though she hasn't the control to do so yet its lots of fun to try!

A Day at the Park

On June 30th, Aunt Chickie, Connor, Jake, Taylor and I headed to the park in Bayonne so Connor and Jake could get in some cousin bonding time! The fun started on the swings! Jake loved Connor pushing him really high!

Jake held on tight while Connor gave him some big pushes!

Then it was on to the slide!!! What's more fun than sliding down the twisty slide with your big cousin?!

It's hard to say who was having more fun...Jake or Connor? hahaha

Then it was on to the sprinklers! "Whoa that was cold!"

Jake wanted everyone in on the action!

That Aunt Chickie...she tricked him walking around the outside of the sprinklers so she didn't get wet!

Connor drinking sprinkler water...Yuck!

Jake was just amazed by the water falling down. He was a bit intimidated at first and probably a bit frozen by the icy cold water but he was loving it a few minutes in!

It's like rain but with the sun shining! He ran around squealing with joy. Ah the joys of the simple things in life!!!!

And of course there was a need to stop and play in the puddles!

How cute...he's like Connor's mini me!

"Run Connor Run!" Connor had his hands full trying to keep up with his little cuz!

Jake with blue lips and shaking from being so chilled had to be bribed away from the sprinklers! Connor pulled out every stop in the book to try to convince the little guy that the water was just too cold to keep playing in! haha

So the little energizer bunny got his big cuz to play ball with him in the grass!

He hasn't yet mastered the hand eye coordination required to play ball but he did manage to hit the ball at least once!

Coach Connor did his best to show the little guy how to swing the bat.

Where was Taylor during all this? She was fast asleep in her stroller! Boy did she miss out on a fun day! Jake was so wiped out by the time we were leaving he walked half way to the car and decided he was just too tired to make it the rest of the way! Aunt Chick had to carry him! There's nothing better than a fun day at the park with your cousin!

Jake at the racetrack for Father's Day. He had a blast checking out the horses!

Taylor sleeps so peacefully! She is so different from her big brother where sleep is concerned!

Jake Tickling Taylor. He is such an awesome big brother!!! He loves giving her kisses and helping Mommy take care of her. He was so excited at the chance to hold her when Mommy wanted a photo op. When mommy tickled her, Jake decided to do the same and mommy of course snapped a pic! Jake has even given Taylor her first nickname, 'T'.

Jake and T watching elmo together! Mommy couldn't get them to look at her b/c their eyes were glued to the tv!

Getting both kids to smile at the same time proved an impossible task for Mommy but they sure are cute together anyway!

Taylor and Jake are becoming fast friends!

And of course Gi Gi came to see her little girl!

Goodgie and Pa Pa were there to welcome their Granddaughter into the world!

Taylor and Jake meet for the first time. Jake was a bit afraid of Taylor at first but he was amazed that the little baby moved and made noise.

Taylor Marie finally came into the world May 18th, 2009 at 12:11 PM weighing 8lbs 1oz and 20-1/4" long.

Jake painted Easter Eggs with Mommy & Daddy Saturday night!

"wow!" Jake was amazed that the white eggs actually changed colors!!

And each time it was equally as amazing to him!!!

15 eggs later and he was still equally as excited each time we took one out of the dye!

He even picked them up himself and put them into the drying rack...he was such a big shot!

Best of all he got to put stickers all over the eggs. Jake made an egg for himself of course, Daddy, Mommy, "baby" and Tiki. His egg of course was his favorite color, "GREEN!"

Jake, Daddy and Tiki were all dressed for Easter!

It was a bit chilly but Jake had to spend some time outside in the sun swinging at Grandma & Grandpa's house. "Whee!" as he says when talking about the swing! He looked more like he was going snowboarding than hanging in the yard but cute as always!

Baby Sarah and Aunt Chickie (Sarah's Grandma) were hanging out enjoying the Easter Festivities!

Jake got to hang out with his Favorite cousin Connor!!!

Best of all he got to hang out with his Uncles!!! And boy was that a blast!

His uncles sure know how to have fun! What's Easter without a game of toss the nephew?

They also helped Jake count his loot at the end of the Easter Egg hunt! Jake couldn't believe there was candy in each one!

Jake and Daddy hit the road on Jake's Tricycle when the nice weather blew into town!
Jake had a blast waving to everyone and sporting his new Sponge Bob hat Grandma and PaPa got him!

Watch out world Jake's on the loose!

It got a little cooler so the sponge Bob hat was traded for the winter hat and Jake gave up the trike for a walk with his Daddy!

Jake was sure to point out all the mud spots and snow piles he was just dying to play in!!!
He's also a big fan of finding every bird, truck and airplane in the area and yell "Da!!" everytime to make sure Daddy didn't miss out on anything!

Jake Plays...

Jake's favorite book to play with is his Baby Einstein Puzzle Book. He will spend long periods of time taking the shapes out and putting them back into the book and he has gotten quite good at it.

Jake and Grandpa look at pictures in a photo album, another new favorite activity. Jake loves looking through the photo albums and naming the people in the pictures! He doesn't quite say everyone's name just yet but he gets very excited looking through it. He also has these Baby Einstein discovery cards he is playing with Grandpa where he acts out different emotions. They are sooo cute.

Jake is starting to play like a little boy these days. He takes his favorite Thomas the Tank Engine trains and rides them around on the track and makes "choo choo" noises.

Jake's also a huge fan of his Mr. Potato Head toy. He loves giving him unique body configurations like arms where the mouth is typically found or out of the top of the head! And then he laughs at his creations!

Jake's Playdate with Anthony

Jake's friend Anthony came to play. Jake happily shared his pretzels with Anthony as they took a break from playing. It's a definite sign that you're in with Jake when he shares his food with you!

Of course there was no real sitting still while they snacked...what fun is that.

January Update

Jake is growing into quite the toddler! This is a picture of Jake on the morning Mommy heard him on the video monitor laughing and squealing to himself only to check the screen and find he had disrobed himself down to his diaper! Luckily for mommy the diaper remained on. He was quite the proud little boy!

Jake got all decked out for the Giants/Eagles playoff game that he watched with Daddy, Grandpa and Uncle Mike (known by Jake as Ka). Unfortunately the Giants couldn't pull off a win but Jake sure did look cute in his warm up suit!

As for the current state of the family, Baby V #2 is doing well growing in Mommy's belly....only 14 weeks to go! Jake on the other hand is having quite a tough winter! He had a stomach bug for two weeks at Christmas and now is suffering from his second week with a bronchial infection and an ear infection. Needless to say it hasn't been pleasant for anyone involved. Hopefully Jake will get well soon. Mommy & Daddy are fairing well despite the illnesses with the exception of a bit of sleep deprivation.

On a lighter note, Jake is talking a bit more these days. He uses Ma and Dad very well and now calls the dog by his name fairly clearly. Tiki is now know as Tee Tee by Jake. He also knows Pa for Grandpa, Ga for Grandma and Gi Gi for Great Gram Marcy. Uncle Mike who's tried to get Jake to say Mike since before he was even close to talking is known as Ka! haha Dish & Leash are his other big words and he is an outstanding animal noise maker! hahaha

Christmas Day 2008

Santa was very good to Jake!
He got a tricycle, a Thomas the Tank Engine Tent, a Jake sized vacuum cleaner and janitor cart, tons of cars and dinosaurs and lots of other fun treats!

Unfortunately Christmas Day was dampened a bit by Jake's stomach virus but he persevered! He was very good at opening the first few gifts but then decided he would rather play than open anymore!

There's Jake on his new Bike!

He even showed off his skills ringing the bell! Everyone will know when he is coming down the street!

Daddy helped Jake try out his new vacuum.
He cleaned up too so there wouldn't be a mess for Mommy!

Everyone enjoyed the holiday at Grandma and Grandpa's house!
Gi Gi, Pop & Uncle Rich relaxed while we all opened gifts!

Great Grandma Grace and Gi Gi Marcy sat comfortably and took in the festivities!

Jake had fun hanging out with Uncle Kevin...Don't block the tv though Uncle Kev!

It took a little bit b/c he was scared of it at first but Jake finally got on and took Thomas for a spin! Grandma & Grandpa sure know how to spoil him!!!

Christmas Eve

Then it was time to set out the Cookies for Santa...What kind of kid puts out cookies without trying them out and tasting the milk to make sure it was good enough for Santa to eat?

Even Tiki got in on the action while Jake hung out with Uncle Mike and Uncle Kevin!

We enjoyed good food and Great Company!

Jake didn't really get the whole Santa idea but he sure did like having all the company over at his house!

We hosted Christmas Eve Dinner at our house. Jake got to spend Christmas Eve with his Nana and Pop from Mississippi, Great Grandma Grace, his Grandma and Grandpa, his Uncles and of course Mommy, Daddy and Tiki. It was lots of fun!! It's always a blast to play with Thomas the Tank engine when people come to visit. Above he and Nana are lining up the trains while Nana learned all their names.

Preparing for Christmas

Jake enjoyed preparing for Christmas and wearing his Christmas PJs. Above he is trying on Daddy's hat for size...Peekaboo!

He really got into putting his own ornaments on the tree. He was very good with the tree too! He would point to the ornaments and loved Mommy and Daddy telling him what the ornaments were and showing him different ones but he rarely took them off the tree.

Jake was sure to tell Tiki what Mommy told him..."no no Tiki, you can't touch the tree!"

He also had lots of fun building towers from all of the boxes that came in from our online shopping. Who needs blocks when you have boxes?!

For those of you that don't know, Jake LOVES trains. His favorite thing is Thomas the Tank Engine and he loves playing with his trains so when Daddy set up his old train from when he was little to go around the Christmas Tree Jake was truly ecstatic although he was a little scared of it at first.

Jake's First Real Snow!

On December 19th, 2008 Jake got to experience playing in the snow for the first time!
He LOVED it!

Daddy actually had the day off so he was home to join in the fun!
Jake ran up and down the sidewalk in front of our house squealing and laughing.

He made sure to clean off the snowman's hat! And refused to wear his mittens. Mommy & Daddy cringed at the idea of playing with snow with your bare hands but Jake LOVED it!

We're having another Baby!!!

For those of you who haven't already heard, the Vick Household is growing! Baby Vick #2 is due May 13, 2009!!! We thought it was about time for the new family member to make "its" first photo debut on the blog.

The photos are from our 13 week ultrasound on Nov 4th. Baby Vick is doing great. Mommy's a little worried though b/c even at this early date he/she is significantly larger than big brother Jake was at the same point in time. Everyone says not to worry but Mommy's hoping the baby doesn't wind up that much bigger than his/her big brother was at delivery!!! Though Steve was promised that this time around we would find out the sex, HE has since decided HE'd rather be surprised again! So it doesn't look like we're going to find out this time around either....we'll all have to wait til May to discover this baby's true identity!

Jake didn't initially embrace the idea of Halloween! He fought Mommy putting on the costume and cried until she took it off!!!

After his nap however Mommy bribed Jake with a kit kat and wound up with a very happy little lion! How Adorable is he????

And of course there was time for a photo shoot with his Halloween buddy Dracula! Although he didn't waste any time eating that kit kat!

Then it was off to Aunt Chickie's to hand out candy with Mommy, Aunt Chick and Gi Gi!

And he was allowed to eat one of the lollipops he was handing out!!! This Halloween thing just gets better and better!

Jake didn't so much like the kids wearing masks with their costumes so he didn't give them any candy but he did enjoy putting it into the bags from time to time! He's quite the little helper!

Little Man Jake

Jake is talking a little now and then...pretty much if he feels like it. He says Mama, Ma, Mom, Dadda, Da, Manma (grandma), eihi (gi gi), Banana, and occasionally repeats other things we say but tends not to repeat them again for quite some time. haha He is also becoming fluent in baby sign language. He can sign eat, more, drink, & done. It is adorable and really helps him communicate during this time where words escape him.

Jake is big into his cars and trains now! One time Mommy drove one on his head and he must like the way it feels because on occassion he does it to himself!!!

He was also dressed just like his Daddy that day! A mini me...too cute!

Jake looks cool wearing his Daddy's shades! "Mom, no pictures please!"

Jake loves going out with Mommy! They take walks, go to the park, go to gymboree to hang out with his friends....etc....

Jake Loves Tiki!! He pats his hand on the floor so that Tiki will come sit near him! Tiki doesn't always oblige but Daddy was near by to help out.

Jake loves reading his Thomas the Tank Engine Books! He is having so much fun before bed time with Daddy!

Daddy got to come to the park with Jake and Mommy in September! Boy did Jake and Daddy have fun!!!!

Labor Day Weekend

We finished off the summer with one more trip to the Bay with Jake. This time we left the red car at home and Jake rode to the beach in his cool red wagon!

Our little shore boy got to take his first ride on a boat! Richie took us for a ride! The water was very rough! Jake really enjoyed the ride laughing as the boat went faster and Connor made faces at him! He had alluded napping before the trip to the beach however so by the time we were on the boat he was well past due. With the motion and being in mommy's arms he actually closed his eyes and started to fall asleep until Richie hit a wave and Jake got wet! WELL that was the end of that! He cried for the remainder of our trip back to the docks! And fell asleep shortly after the boat ride!

After the nap Jake decided to take a stab at surfing! He warmed up by sitting on the board on land preparing himself for entry into the water! Then with some help from Mommy and Grandma he was in the water and ready to stand! Boy was that Fun!!!!
And of course there is always time for a little game of Peekaboo to finish the day off!

Jake had quite a busy month in August...lots of trips to the beach. He loves the seagulls and just can't resist trying to chase them up and down the beach. He still doesn't understand that he just isn't going to catch them! Can't blame a boy for trying!

Popcorn Park Zoo

On August 30,2008 Grandma, Grandpa, Mommy, Daddy and Jake went to Popcorn Park Zoo! Years ago when Mommy was a kid this was a place where the mamed animals that the zoo rescued actually walked amongst the visitors who fed them well Popcorn of course! So we thought Jake would get such a kick out of this! Unfortunately, I guess probably due to insurance requirements, with the exception of a rooster or two and some geese, the animals are all behind fences. You can definitely feed them but they no longer walk right up to you! Jake didn't seem to mind though...he had himself some fun feeding the animals and sneeking a piece of popcorn or two for himself in the process!

Grandma, Grandpa and Jake fed some peanuts to the goats!
Jake got a kick out of feeding the deer popcorn right out of his little had! They were truly gentle and he still had all his fingers when he was done!
The geese just wandered by as we toured the zoo!
Jake banged on the gate with his "come here" signal to get the goat to come have some peanuts that Grandpa was offering up!

Summer Fun

So as most of you know from my previous entries or ever having the experience of being around Jake and his red car, it is by far his FAVORITE toy ever!! He actually owns 2 of them b/c we didn't want to have to bring it to the shore every time we went down but knew we could never leave it behind! So of course what day at the beach would be complete without Jake playing with the awesome red car! This trip however, Jake decided to test the versatility of his great toy!

First he made sure to check under the hood and make sure all the necessary parts were functioning properly!
Once everything checked out it was time to make the little red car water born! Talk about no fear of the water, Jake just pushed that red car right into the Bay! Who wouldn't? He and his red car can do anything together!
A few steps in though and Jake was testing out the skills he learned in his swim lessons! He went face first into the water!!! Luckily Daddy was there to grab him but don't worry, Daddy didn't drop his soda in the process! What a multitasker!
So mommy grabbed Jake and Daddy went after the boat....I mean car! Jake was a little shell shocked for the first few minutes but then went right back to playing near the waters edge. Though the little red car didn't save Jake from his first swim in the bay, I don't think his belief in it's ability to go anywhere and do anything has faultered any!

Central Park Zoo

On August 16th, Mommy, Daddy & Jake went into the city via subway to the Central Park Zoo!

It was Jake's first ride on a train! He was mildly amused by the PATH ride but didn't like the noisy NY subway trip!

"Mommy Look! The penguins are diving into the water!"

Jake really got a kick out of the penguins exhibit! They were diving into the water and swimming right in front of him!

Jake got to pet a Cow!!!

And then he petted a goat! Mommy had to make sure he didn't climb into the pen with the animals!

He was very anxious to feed the baby llama so he tried to show mommy he could hold his hand out like the other people too!

"BIRDS!!!" (Jake's second favorite animal next to dogs!) Jake was showing the little girl the ducks!

It was an all around great day at the zoo!!!

A day at the Beach

On August 10th, Jake went to Island Beach (the ocean) for the first time!

He thoroughly enjoyed snacking on the beach! He takes after his Grandpa!
He also had lots of fun running into and out of the surf!
What day at the beach would be complete without pushing the red car up and down the beach! Pushing the car is no easy task on the sand mind you but Jake was determined!
He also had lots of fun hanging out with Daddy! They even took a nap together later in the day!
Jake was even generous enough to share some of his snacks with Daddy!

Of course no day at the beach is complete without the threat of a storm coming. Jake was sound asleep in his tent when the lifeguards started blowing the whistle and kicking everyone off the beach! "Everyone off the beach! It's bad...hail, lightening, and possible tornados!" Needless to say Jake woke up! He sat up, rubbed his eyes and looked around like 'why are you all leaving I was comfortable!' So that was the end of our day at the ocean! Never a dull moment!

Visit with Grandma Diane

On July 25th, Jake enjoyed a visit at the shore with Grandma Diane. We went to the beach together and had lots of fun. Jake and Grandma played lots while she was visiting. Jake obviously got Grandma Diane aquainted with his favorite red car! They played on the swing and just had a great time together. Jake even got his first taste of crab meat at dinner!!

Jake just took it all in as everyone sang happy birthday! He felt so special!!!

Mommy made him his very own Cupcake Cake! Jake just dug right in...why get your hands dirty when you can just take a big ol' bite yourself! Boy was it yummy!!!

Jake's First Birthday Party was wonderful! It was a VERY hot and humid 96 degrees and sunny but Grandpa and Daddy set up tents and misting fans to keep the company cool! Some people went swimming too! Everyone had a lot of fun eating, drinking and being merry. The kids had a blast and Jake had a GREAT time! Thanks to everyone who made his day special! It's hard to believe it's been a whole year since he was born!

Nicole's Wedding

My Cousin Nicole got married this weekend...Congrats to Nicole & Scott! She looked fabulous and the wedding went off without a hitch!

Jake made his studdly wedding debut wearing a mini tuxedo!!! All the ladies loved him!
He even smiled for the cameras several times over!!!
Here he is with the apple of his eye...GiGi! He lights up every time he sees her. She was spending some quality time with her two boys, Jake and Connor!
Jake was up way past his bedtime but you wouldn't know it...he was dancing and eating french fries well into the night! What a party animal!

Dog Days

Jake went to visit his cousins Ann Marie and Connor and wound up in the dog house!

Some days we wonder if we are raising a child or a dog...Jake plays fetch very well....he brings you the toy and goes to get it again when you throw it! We think that he is learning from his elder siblings, Tiki (our dog) and Ellie (His Grandparents' dog). He has on more than one occasion tried to drink water from a puddle on the deck, he loves when Ellie licks him from the opposite side of the screen door so he now tries to do the same, and as you can see from the picture he likes getting in the dog crate....we need to get him around more kids!!!!

A Boy after Gi Gi's (aka Great Grandma Marcy) own heart Jake has already started to have a flare for cleaning! He LOVES the dust mop and actually does a decent job dusting the floors! He even mopped up at Grandma's house too! And when you take the mop away from him watch out! The first time he cried for like 20 minutes and wouldn't play with anything else!!! We'll have to use this to our advantage and put him to work at an early age!

These are just a few of Jake's Favorite things:

Riding around in his big red car indoors or out...he also does his fair share of pushing it around. We tried to put his cabbage patch doll in it and he just took him out and threw him..."this is my car!"

He loves swinging and clapping hands so why not do them at the same time!
His yard stick...what every child needs. He loves carrying it around! Future engineer in the making???
He loves playing at Grandma & Grandpas Yard...he has the big pool, a little pool of his own, a log cabin and a swingset! Can we say SPOILED???

So for those of you who haven't seen us in a while I thought I'd give you an update in the goings ons in the world of Jake. As many of you know Jake is walking around like a pro...running at times, especially when chasing Tiki (the dog) or trying to elude diaper changing time. He loves to scream especially when he wants to get a reaction out of people. He isn't really talking just yet. The occasional "Mama" and a lot of babbling going on but no "real words" as his Dad likes to say. Jake has a temper...many people say he is "too much like his mommy". He is a generally happy little boy who loves to laugh and play and is always up for nonsense but if he doesn't get his way watch out!!

He loves to play "boo!!" with mommy...he actually likes to be scared with a big "boo!" the more mommy makes him jump the harder he laughs! He is just starting to take an interest in other kids. He loves watching them play and has even started to interact with them which is really cute.

Rutgers Day @ the Bronx Zoo

On June 14Th, 2008 we went to the Bronx Zoo for Rutgers Day!

It was excruciatingly hot and humid but Jake had a blast!

Jake got to pet a sheep!!! He was grinning ear to ear!!

He road the bug carousel which he found fun and exciting for the first 2-1/2 trips around and then freaked out and climbed off into mommy's arms!

Jake and Daddy enjoyed their pre-father's day trip to the zoo together!

Jake and Mommy enjoyed breakfast and lunch on the balcony!

Mommy is trying to teach Jake the art of eating off a plate and thought

it would be less messy to do so outdoors since Jake thinks plates are for

flipping food off of onto the floor!

The plate didn't make it through the whole meal! At least he is good at sharing!

He's cute even with his face full of food!

Since so many of you are always asking for new pictures of Jake and how he's doing I decided to create our very own family Blog. Since I have very little time to myself to write all of you individually and send pictures I figured it was a good way to reach out to all of you at once. This is my very first time "blogging" so it may take me a bit to get the hang of it. Hope you all enjoy the chance to keep up to date on the Vick family.
